Conscious Catering

Our sustainability strategy

Our parent company CH&CO Catering Group ltd have an award-winning, dedicated expert team to lead our sustainability strategy. It is the responsibility of all our people to deliver the change needed to achieve our goal: To halt climate change, to restore nature and deliver high social value by 2040.

At Create we operate across all departments with a consistent vision that focuses on delivering events that are economically, socially and environmentally sustainable. We are diligent in our day-to-day tasks, ensuring that we adhere to our company-wide policies and management systems.

Transparency is at the heart of our sustainability strategy, as such, we report our forest, water and carbon impact via the CDP framework, complete Eco-Vadis disclosure, and we produce an annual sustainability report.

Materiality

We measure all our building emissions, energy use and waste. We have energy and environmental management systems, certified to ISO14001 and 50001 criteria. Our net zero target is aligned to the Science Based Targets initiative – the globally recognised way to set a legitimate net zero roadmap. Our procurement team receive specific training on sustainable procurement and our supply chains are mapped through innovative supply mapping software, Authenticate, which allows us to trace our ingredients back to a farm level. We feature an abundance of seasonal, local and more sustainable suppliers, as well as suppliers that are minority owned or are SMEs.

Please view our London Larder Provenance Map, outlining our directory of reputable local suppliers whereby we source the finest and freshest ingredients for our menus.

People

People are at the heart of our business. We champion internal career progression with our ‘Grow with us’ career roadmap as well as supporting hundreds of apprentices each year.

We recognise that we must support people beyond our doors. In addition to our official charity partners, The Princes Trust, Springboard and Hospitality Action we support other local charities like Well Grounded and Luminary Bakery. Amongst our work with Well Grounded we sponsor 12 apprentices each year, supporting long-term unemployed into work by providing internationally accredited barista training, and we offer guaranteed employment on completion.
With Luminary, as well as offering work placements, we fundraise and promote the bakery to our clients and customers.

Our Social Value is measured annually against the nationally recognised TOM’s framework and certified by Planet Mark.

Future Steps Challenge

In 2018 Create proudly joined forces with The Prince’s Trust. Our Get Into Hospitality initiative helped to support individuals in gaining invaluable skills within hospitality.

Additionally, our Future Steps Challenge has seen over a thousand of our colleagues take part through the years in a challenge to hit their 10,000 steps a day. Everyone involved has directly contributed to making a positive impact on young people’s lives through promoting and raising money for the Prince’s Trust and we are overwhelming proud of our contributions to this cause.
